Date visited: xmas 2004
Location/Directions:
From Perth - Straight through Crieff main street and then down the hill and turn left onto the A822 (Stirling). Follow the road until you cross the bridge over the River Earn and turn right to enter Braidhaugh.
The site is largely statics but the tourer pitches, many of which are alongside the river, are mainly hard standing and most of these are serviced, with TV cables - make sure you plug the cable straight into the TV and not into an external socket on the van!
Water hook ups are not available in winter due to freezing.
The toilets were lovely and warm and spotlessly clean.
There is a play area and games room as well as a shop on site.
The site gets busy at peak times and booking is advisable.
There are quite a few hotels and restaurants in the area to suit all tastes And lots of walks and things to visit.

Great little site - Steve Ewart, the owner, is friendly and helpful, the toilets are spotless as is the site. There is golf close by and plenty of places to see in the locality - Glamis Castle is nearby as is J M Barries birthplace. The Angus glens with plenty walking is a short drive away.
The site gets busy at peak times and booking is advisable.
The Blackbird in does bar meals and there is a good chippie in Alyth.

Location/ Directions: just off the A9 at Dunkeld (well signposted) about 12 miles north of Perth.
Date visited - Too many to mention - site open April - October.
Nice site by the river near the historical town of Dunkeld. The owner is Nigel Bryden who is always around to help with info or whatever.
The site can get very busy at holiday weekends and peak times. There are seasonal pitches on the site and these are mainly to the southern end. The other is end is more open. There is room for a van and awning but the car has to go in front of the van.
There are loads of walks of varying lengths - visit the Hermitage, a folly built beside a spectacular waterfall. Dunkeld itself has a cathedral and small, interesting shops.
There is good food to be had at the hotels and restaurants in Dunkeld.
This site is a favourite of ours at the beginning and end of the season as its so easy for us to reach on a Friday evening for a weekend away.

We went at the end of June for a long weekend to Milton of Fonab Caravan Site at Pitlochry Perthsire.
We had prebooked a non-awning pitch but changed our minds at the last minute for an awning pitch. The staff were excellent in helping us gain an awning pitch.
The site is well laid out with a number of statics in one part of the site as you enter the site.
The main tourer area is down the road and across a wee bridge. There are some pitches with excellent views down the Strath, the others are inside the site.
Awning pitches are quite close together with room enough for the caravan & awning but none to park the car beside the unit......except on one pitch.
Toilets are spotless and up to CC standards. Rubbish is emptied every morning.
If youre coming from the south and going north on the A9, ignore the first sign for Pitlochry. This will take you into the lower part of the town and is not as easy to negotiate as the second route. Carry on just past the first turn off on the left and about .5 mile north youll see a sign for Pitlochry on your right. Take this exit and simply follow the road down - straight into the site! Easy!:O)
There are 79 touring pitches - there are 75 tent pitches.
Bikes can be hired in the town (about a ten minute walk from the site) and there is fishing nearby.
From the town, most parts of Perthshire are accessible, including, Aberfoyle & Aberfeldy. The Pass of Killiekrankie is about a twenty minute drive north, Loch Tummel is close by, as is the Queens View on Loch Tay. I didnt rate the Café at the Queens View - personal opinion.
Pitlochry itself is one of the most popular visitor sites in Scotland and once you visit youll see exactly why. Two Distilleries, a salmon leap, shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes........did I mention shops?? :O)
The site is open March through to October. I would strongly recommend booking at this site as it becomes very busy.
It is a site I would wholeheartedly recommend.

We stayed at this site for 3 days. We have been here on a couple of occasions and find the site to be suitable for our needs.
This is an ideal base for touring Perthshire and a large part of Central Scotland. The site is next to Perth race course and polo field. Scone Palace is about a mile away. The site is part of the Palace estate and a tour of the Palace and grounds is highly recommended. There is a beautiful chapel outside of which is a replica of the Stone of Scone recently restored to Scotland. If you do go to the Palace then why not make a day of it. There is a restaurant and a cafe in the Palace Kitchens. The cafe serves a lovely fresh salmon sandwich and freshly made scones with butter and jam at reasonable prices.
From the site you can walk by the racecourse to the River Tay where you can watch the fishermen fly fish. The Tay is renowned for its salmon and trout, although we have yet to see one caught.
The city of Perth is only 2 miles away. The shopping is excellent and there is a leisure pool and skating rink for the young (or just the young at heart).
The site is ideal for touring; to the east on the coast is St Andrews famous for its golf courses, head north-west and you find the purple heathered moors of the Birks of Abernethy. In Abernethy itself there is the Round Tower, which you can climb up to get a wonderful view. To the east is Pitlochry with its famous Fish Ladder where salmon negotiate the dam to go upstream to spawn. There is also a theatre and some cafes by the river.
The site amenities include a recreation room and disabled toilet and shower facilities and non-members are welcome. There are 150 pitches with some all-weather.

Shower block --- Playground --- Statics
The address for this site is misleading, as it actually approached through the car park of Scone Racecourse, and the site sign is only visible once you are in the car park. At the time of our visit a large puddle occupied most of the approach to the site gate.
The site is wooded (drips from the trees make the rain seem heavier than it is), which disguises the size of the site - 150 pitches. There are two toilet blocks, one of which contains a laundry room. There is a play area at the end of the site. Several cycle campers were on site, and were allowed to try to select the driest pitch that they could find!
The club are selling statics, with pitches, at this site, which the rules say cannot be hired out, but quite how they expect to be able to enforce this I cant see.
There are 3 supermarkets in Perth, and if you need to visit them at peak traffic time I would recommend the Park & Ride from Scone village.

The site has ample space for both touring vans and tents alike, all with hook-ups at great prices. Facilities include toilet/ shower blocks, laundry room inc dryers and ironing tables which are always kept clean and tidy.
There is a full activities and sports programe arranged during the day, as well as crazy golf and a heated indoor swimming pool. There are also bikes for hire as well as free fishing for trout in the stocked bait pond on site or free "fly only" on a mile and a half of the River Tummel itself. Or just relax in the friendly family bar. There is a onsite grocery shop, telephones and an amusment arcade
At night the evening entertainment programe starts at 6pm with fun bingo and cabaret EVERY night.
I personally booked in for 4 nights and on the third, book a seasonal pitch which will be renewed for 2003 shortly.

Location/ Directions ½ mile west of Comrie on the A85
Date visited; at least once a year
This site is not suitable for tents. It was formally a base for construction employees, working on the hydro electric dams in the area. Pitches are either concrete or gravel.
this pretty secluded family run park is set amongst magnificent woodland on a south facing hillside, only ½ mile west from the picturesque and friendly village of Comrie.
The laundry and toilet block are always spotlessly clean, with little personal touches.
A car park is provided for residents to use for second cars and when the security gate is closed between 10.30pm and 8am, this stops the nuisance of cars driving past late at night.
There are many places within easy reach - the Trossachs, take a lake sail; Loch Tay, visit the reconstructed Crannog. There are loads of golf courses around and every sort of walk from a short stroll to a Munro.
Touring caravans and motorhomes are accommodated in either the families area or the couples area, both of which are separate from the Holiday Homes. All are hard standing and individual - divided by shrubs and grassed area and in small groups - with direct electric and TV hook-ups.
The Tullybannacher Restaurant opposite the site entrance does good meals as do the hotels in Comrie.
We go here at least once a year with a group of friends and the Lowe family who own the site are great at giving us a corner to ourselves.
